M.T.Vasudevan Nair is a refulgent Star in the literary sky of Malayalam Language.This unparalleled genius
person is author of distinct Malayalam Novels and short stories.More than 54 Screenplays have become
beautiful cinemas which enthralled the audience.His first venture as a film director in 1973 received several
National awards.He made glitter all the sectors he attempted to with his magical wand.He is noted for his realistic portrayal  of Novels and short stories.The creativity of poignant situations in his stories effectively
produce an impact in the hearts of the readers.In his screenplays also he is superb in creating mind blowing
and susceptible sequences.His candidly behaving village characters,intensively catchy dialogues,delicate and
gentle love sequences,presenting characters with a varied angle of vision etc are well noted.He changed the
character 'cheating Chandu' of Vadakkan Pattuakal, which is age old folklore character as a nice person for the film 'Oru Vadakkan Veera Gadha' and the people accepted it happily since MT could convince it with his powerful screenplay and dialogues.Nobody dared for any argument.That screenplay received National award and award for Mammootty  for playing that character also.Lately in 2010 Mammootty excelled well as 'Pazhassi Raja' a blockbuster big budget film scripted by M.T.Vasudevan Nair.
M.T.Vasudevan Nair(Madathil Thekkepattu Vasudevan Nair) was born on 15 July in a small village 'Kudallur'
of Palakkad District.He studied English Language and Literature in College for University Degree and after
the course worked as teacher in an Institution for a small period.Later he joined 'Mathrubhumi Daily' in the editorial board and was in the periodical section.He became the Chief Editor of Mathrubhumi Weeky and
Editor of other periodicals.
At the age of twenty five his Novel 'Nalukettu' won both Kerala Sahitya Academy award and Kendra Sahitya
Academy Award.The narration of his novel is wonderfully extraordinary and he got a permanent place in the
minds of literary lovers.Even his short stories  are also highly defined and possess a different status.Many of
his short stories are made in to Malayalam films.
The entry of M.T.Vasudevan Nair in to Malayalam Cinema was in the year 1965 with the film'Murapennu' by writing its screenplay.It was based on his own short story 'Snehathinte Mukhangal' and was directed by
A.Vincent.Throughout the film he used a northern Kerala dialect known as 'Valluvanadan language' which was
liked by Keralites very much and afterwards for most of the films in Malayalam Valluvanadan dialects are being used till now.The screenplay of 'Murapennu' which he wrote at the age of 32 was published as a book which
became an authority of reference for writing screenplay for beginners.

In 1967 P.Bhaskaran directed a film with MT's screenplay 'Iruttinte Aathmavu' based on  a short story written by MT itse

lf which became a blockbuster film and Prem Nazir's one of the best role in his career was of that film.As a mental patient 'Velayudhan' Prem Nazir excelled fantastically well in that film.In 'Murapennu' also
Prem Nazir was the hero and as the character 'Balan' he is still remembered and the song 'Karayunno Puzha
Chirikkunno' also.Sarada was the heroine in both that films.In "Murapennu' P.J. Antony acted in a prime
role as the head of a joint family and the acquaintance with him made him the main role of 'Nirmalyam' the
first film MT directed in 1973.It was based on a short story written by himself in the name 'Pallyvalum Kaalchilambum'.M.T.Vasudevan Nair who does not have any prior training in film direction got Kerala Government Award for Best Director for Nirm.alyamIt was selected as Best film and Best Screen Play also.P.J.Antony  got National award for Best actor for that film.National award for best film was also for
"Nirmalyam'.He was given National award for Best Screen play four times in 1990 for 'Oru Vadakkan

Veera Gadha', in 92 for 'Kadavu', in 93 for Sadayam and in 98 for 'Parinayam'.
He got several awards from Kerala Government for many of his films.'Oru Cheru punchiri and Kadavu' are nice films directed by MT himself. P.N.Menon,P.Bhaskaran,A.Vincent,K.S.Sethumadhavan,I.V.Sasi,Hariharan,Venu,Hari Kumar etc
directed some of his best films.Balan K.Nair got National award for acting in 'Oppol' a film scripted by him.
M.T.Vasudevan Nair has also served as the President of Kerala Sahitya Academy and as the chairman of
Thunchan Memorial Trust.He served as faculty at Pune Film and T.V.Institute also.
M.T.Vasudevan Nair's Novels 'Nalukettu,Manju,Kaalam,Asuravithu,Randamoozham' etc are well acclaimed by critics and readers.'Randamoozham' which is based on Mahabharatha epic and viewed all
the happenings through the eyes of 'Bhima' received appreciation from literary lovers and that novel enabled him for 'Jyanpith Award' the highest literary award in India.
M.T.Vasudevan Nair was selected for honorary D.Lit. Degree from the University of Calicut in 1996.
He is recipient of 'Padma Bhushan' Award from Government of India.
